Question: If God is real, why is there suffering?

Response: Suffering exists because humanity has often chosen to reject God. God, in His love, grants us free will, which allows for both good and bad choices. When we stray from Him, chaos and pain ensue. While God watches our suffering with a heavy heart, He will not force anyone to be with Him. This world is broken due to sin, but God promises eternal life through His Son’s sacrifice. He can bring good from our struggles if we stay steadfast in our faith. Here are a few key points to consider:

1. Free Will: Humanity has the freedom to make choices, and sometimes those choices result in harm.

2. The Fallen World: Evil exists because we live in a world marred by sin. God permits these events to uphold our free will.

3. God’s Presence: Even in pain, many find comfort in God’s presence, as He supports those who suffer.

4. Ultimate Protection: Our faith in Christ ensures eternal life, even in the face of physical harm.

5. Testing and Growth: Challenges can lead to spiritual growth, despite the tragedy they may cause.

In Luke 22:36, Jesus spoke about preparedness for challenges, emphasizing the importance of being spiritually ready. Trusting God during adversity means relying on His guidance while acknowledging the realities we face.
